Our Literacy program is a hallmark of a Primary Day education and a top priority for each learner at every grade level. Reading is important in its own right—for knowledge, for pleasure, for personal growth—but it is also a crucial “gateway” skill, opening doors to learning in every other subject.

Research shows that children who learn to read well in the early grades are more successful throughout their school years across all of the content areas.

Beginning in Pre-Kindergarten, literacy instruction provides our readers and writers with a wealth of reading and writing strategies that promote strong reading habits, independent writing skills, and powerful comprehension competencies. In our literacy-rich community, our students immerse themselves in a world of wonder and adventure as they unlock the keys to reading success.
