At Primary Day, we know how imperative social emotional learning is for our students and how it lays the foundation for their lives here and beyond.
Our students learn how to navigate social situations and manage their emotions through developing a growth-mindset, empathy, self-advocacy skills, cooperation, strong relationships, and the ability make responsible choices.
At Primary Day, we integrate social-emotional learning into all we do and through emphasizing our PDS values. These monthly traits are taught through literature, role-playing, and social stories, and are also emphasized during class meetings.
Our PDS Values – selected by our faculty and our parents – are kindness, honesty, gratitude, patience, cooperation, respect, responsibility, determination, and empathy.
We also resolutely employ Responsive Classroom, an evidence-based teaching approach that fosters positive social-emotional skills, learning environments, attitudes, and behaviors.
